Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Division announces the arrest of a suspect in connection with a series of armed robberies targeting convenience stores in the Los Angeles area and the City of South Gate.
Between April 9, 2025, and May 7, 2025, multiple 7-Eleven stores were robbed at gunpoint. In each incident, the suspect entered the store, selected items as if to make a purchase, and approached the counter. He then produced a semi-automatic handgun from his waistband, racked the slide, and demanded money from the cashier. After obtaining U.S. currency from the register, the suspect fled on foot before leaving the scene in a vehicle.
Detectives from the LAPD Robbery-Homicide Division, in coordination with the South Gate Police Department, conducted an extensive investigation that led to the identification of the suspect as 28 year-old, Jesus Javier Contreras-Reyes.
On May 7, 2025, while detectives were preparing to serve search and arrest warrants, Contreras-Reyes committed an additional armed robbery at a 7-Eleven store in South Gate. He was apprehended shortly after the incident. During the arrest, officers recovered a loaded firearm and other evidentiary items from his vehicle.
Contreras-Reyes was arrested for 211 PC – Armed Robbery with Enhancements and booked into an LAPD jail facility. His booking number is 7011100.
