Fatal Hit and Run Suspects Arrested NR17264sr

September 13, 2017

Van Nuys: On September 6, 2017, around 11:20 p.m., a silver 2015 Toyota Camry traveling eastbound Stagg Street negotiated a right turn to southbound Sepulveda Boulevard and collided with a bicyclist riding northbound Sepulveda Boulevard, in the southbound lanes. The driver failed to stop, identify him or herself, or render aid to the bicyclist as required by state law.

After the first collision, the victim was laying on the roadway when she was struck by a second southbound vehicle that also failed to stop, identify himself or herself, or render aid to the bicyclist as required by state law. Citizens flagged down a nearby Los Angeles Police officer and notified him of the collision. The officer immediately summonsed an ambulance.

The Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and pronounced the victim dead at scene. The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of next-of-kin.

This collision was initially reported to the media as a vehicle verses pedestrian. As the investigation rapidly developed it was later discovered that the victim was riding a bicycle at the time of the collision.

An extensive investigation was launched, and on September 7, 2017, the driver of the Toyota Camry was located and arrested for felony hit and run. The 24-year-old, Van Nuys resident, Erik Limon was booked at Van Nuys Jail with a bail amount of $50,000.

On September 12, 2017, the second driver was located and arrested for felony hit and run. Her name is Jenevieve B. Hegedus from Valley Village, DOB: May 11, 1983, She was driving a 2011, Mitsubishi, 4-door, gold in color. Her bail amount is also $50,000.

Drivers are reminded that if they become involved in a collision they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves.
