Bio

Captain Cynthia L. Robertson is a native of California. She began her career with the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) in 1988. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and a Master’s Degree of Public Administration from the University of La Verne. She has worked a variety of assignments including Patrol, in Hollenbeck Division, Juvenile Division, Pacific Division, LAPD-FBI South Bureau Gang Task Force, Fugitive Warrant Section and Planning and Research Division.

In 1996, she was promoted to Sergeant and was assigned to West Traffic Division as a Field Supervisor, Southwest Division and loaned to Training Division as an Administrative Sergeant.

In 1997, she was promoted to Detective and was assigned to Wilshire Division as a case carrying detective, Commission Investigation Division which handled permit revocation hearings for the City of Los Angeles and Internal Affairs Division.

In 2001, she was upgraded to Sergeant II and assigned to Chief of Staff, Chief of Administrative Services, Office of Support Services and Office of Administrative Services administrative assignments.

In 2014, she promoted to Lieutenant and was assigned to Devonshire Division as a Watch Commander and Administrative Lieutenant where she oversaw their Volunteer Program, Van Nuys Division as a Watch Commander and Assistant Detective Commanding Officer where she oversaw detectives, gangs, vice and narcotics.

In 2022, she was upgraded to Lieutenant II as the Detective Commanding Officer of Olympic Detective Division in charge of detectives.

In 2025, she was promoted to the rank of Captain and assigned to Foothill Division as the Patrol Commanding Officer.

Captain Robertson is a graduate of the Los Angeles Police Department’s West Point Leadership Program and the FBI-Law Enforcement Executive Development Association (LEEDA). She was also awarded “Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges” which recognizes outstanding students based on academic achievements, community service, leadership and potential for continued success.
