Unidentified Male Struck and Killed by Hit & Run Driver

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department’s Central Traffic Division (CTD) detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying a driver involved in a hit-and-run collision that struck and killed an unidentified male.

On January 12, 2025, around 12:50 a.m., a male, white, approximately 50-60 years of age, (Pedestrian) was walking southbound 3rd Street west of Lucas Avenue, when a light-colored sedan traveling westbound 3rd Street collided with the pedestrian. The impact between the hit & run vehicle and the pedestrian caused the pedestrian to be projected mid-air colliding with the roadway.

The hit & run driver, sedan fled the scene without stopping to render aid and identify themselves. The Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics responded and transported the unidentified male, pedestrian to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

We would like to remind everyone, that when involved in a traffic crash, to stop and check on the other parties, make sure they are not injured, call 9-1-1 if they need medical attention, and to exchange information. Don’t convert a traffic crash into a crime.

On April 15, 2015, the Los Angeles City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit-and-Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $50,000 is available to community members that provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.

If anyone has information regarding the vehicle, please contact Investigator M. Figueroa, Serial No. 34332, Central Traffic Detectives, at (213) 833-3713 or e-mail 34332@lapd.online or Central Traffic Division Watch Commander at (213) 833-3746. During weekends and off-hours calls should be directed to the 24-hour toll free number at 1-877-LAPD-24-7 (1-877-527-3247).
