Suspects Terrorizes 88-year-old Victim NR14395JK

October 24, 2014

Hollywood:  An 88-year-old victim getting off of the bus preyed upon by strong armed robber; video footage captures the harrowing ordeal.

On August 19, 2014 around 3:30 p.m., the suspect followed the victim after he got off of the bus at Hollywood Boulevard and Bronson Avenue.  The victim walked to the 5900 block of Carlos Way where the suspect confronted the victim and demanded money, but the victim ignored him and continued walking. The suspect again confronted the victim in the parking lot of an apartment complex.  As shown in the video, the suspect attempted to block him from walking towards the apartment building, but eventually the victim gets past him. The suspect then continued to follow the victim inside.

As the victim walked into the elevator room, surveillance footage shows that he tried to close the door behind him, but the suspect overpowered the victim and forced his way inside.  The suspect can be seen pushing the victim against the wall multiple times, hurling him down to the floor and attempting to take his property.

Finally, the suspect followed the victim into the elevator where the victim handed the suspect money. However, the suspect wanted more and then punched the victim multiple times.  When the elevator stopped, the suspect exited with the victim and property.

The suspect is described as a White or Hispanic male with black hair and brown eyes.  He stands approximately 5 feet 8 inches, weighs approximately 150 pounds and is around 25 years of age.  He was wearing a gray baseball cap with a red bill, black t-shirt with white print on the front, floral shorts and black tennis shoes.  He was also seen carrying a black and white checkered backpack and white plastic bag.

Los Angeles Police Department Hollywood Robbery detectives are asking for the public’s help in providing any information that will lead to the arrest of this dangerous suspect.

***Video Surveillance is available at Media Relations Section, PAB Room 257-B***
