Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department’s West Bureau Homicide detectives are seeking information regarding a homicide investigation in which two suspects have been arrested.
On June 11, 2025, around 3:50 p.m., officers assigned to LAPD Wilshire Area responded to the 100 block of North Rossmore Avenue for a radio call of a stabbing. Upon their arrival, officers discovered the victim, who was unresponsive, suffering from a severe laceration. The Los Angeles Fire Department responded and pronounced the victim deceased at scene.
Through investigative efforts, West Bureau Homicide detectives were able to identify two suspects responsible for the murder.
The FBI/ LAPD Fugitive Task Force with FBI Los Angeles, LA County Probation and CA Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation were able to locate the suspects at a residence in Palmdale. The FBI/ LAPD Fugitive Task Force with the assistance of LAPD Metropolitan Division SWAT were able to take both suspects into custody, and a weapon was recovered. The two suspects have been booked for 187 PC – Murder, and the case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration.
The suspects have been identified as 41-year-old Rolando Guardado (Booking No. 7033848), and 45-year-old Madeline Fresia Rivas (Booking No. 7033869), both residents of Palmdale. Guardado and Rivas are being held without bail.
The victim has been identified as 84-year-old Gary Nelson, a resident of Los Angeles.
The motive is believed to be burglary related, and detectives are trying to determine if there is a connection between the victim and suspects.
